Subject: Baghdad up date

Message-ID:   Baghdad update 7 Feb 05   I apologize for not corresponding sooner but we’ve been working hard.  During the time of the election we where patrolling up to 18 hrs a day before and after the election. There was a lot of fighting during the night between the Iraq Army and the insurgents. We were involved in some of these fire fights but it was not as bad as expected. Just a few close mortars and some to close bullets. The people of Iraq where very grateful for finally being free and able to vote .They throw flowers at us and told us thank you for our freedom. I was two tired to give a dam at the time but after I realized that history was made, and we made it happen.  That’s a good felling you don’t get  every day. This country still has a large terrorist problem and this will take some time to fix. As fare as our departure from this theater, we have date but we have no replacements so it doesn’t mean anything. So are operations have not changed much .One night we where hungry wanted to get some chicken.  Just to buy it we had to Cordon off a hole bock because the best chicken is always worst part of town,  just like at home.
